Day 9 (7-05-08) Haystack Rock and Cannon Beach

Early Saturday morning I went with Erica's family to Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach. There was a minus 2 tide and you could see lots of starfish, seaweed, crabs, and other cool stuff. In this picture are Anthony, Anna, Olivia, and me. It was raining and windy and cold but we kept on going. Vince stayed with Daniel back in the van. Erica is taking the picture for me.
Normally, you can't get this close to the rock because part of it is under water. The water line is about 15 feet high on the rock. It is the brown rock where people are standing.
There were volunteers there to answer any questions that we might have about the sea life. There are nesting birds that make their home on top of the rock.
A better picture of the water line on the rock.
Some pretty purple and orange starfish or sea stars. Here is part of the Fordiani family, Anthony, Anna, Erica, and Olivia. They are standing by the "velvet" rock. It is not covered in velvet but by thousands of barnacles. Here is a close up of the rock covered in barnacles. We saw these pretty flowers outside of the restaurant where Vince and Daniel were waiting for us.Olivia took this picture of the pretty flowers. I think they are daisies. She is a good photographer. We were stopping by a candy shop and looking for parking when we saw this sign. Erica took a picture of it because it is funny to read. I guess people come in from the beach half dressed and then go into stores. It says, "I am very sorry but there are no exceptions to this rule. Anything else you wear will be fine. Dress casual--dress up. You are at the beach. Have fun!"This is a statue or sculpture outside someone's house before you enter Surf Pines Estate. It looks like it is made from wood. These people are made out of wood and are also in the yard.A closer look at the statues. Later that day, I had Chantrell upstairs at mom and dad's and was changing her outfit. I took some cute pictures of her in just pampers. She makes some silly faces. She is smiling in this one. What a cute baby!!! I better take some photos of Brenna in pampers too. I have to be fair.

OK--I will take your advice and start making comments now and not worry about trying to catch up on all the ones I didn't make comments on. That totally overwhelmed me and paralyzed me. The photos you took are beautiful. I love the photos of the twins and of the flowers. You have spruced up your blog. Nice job! Love to all of you, Mom

I love all your pictures, and the game you made with Zoey playing peek a boo, so clever and cute. All the pictures of the girls are so adorable and I loved the pictures of the wooden statues. I agree, sometimes it's overwhelming to add comments each and every time, and then you find yourself behind, just start fresh and add when you can. It is fun when someone comments, it makes it feel worth while and gives you a liitle lift. Great pictures!!
